Dear George J. Mitchell Families,

I am so glad that your child is a part of our George J. Mitchell School family! It is the George J. Mitchell School’s mission to provide a safe and positive learning environment focused on inclusivity. We set high expectations for individual achievement based on data that drives instruction so each student receives the support, intervention, and enrichment needed to succeed.

At the George J. Mitchell School, students are celebrated for being a positive member of our school community. In order to do this, the George J. Mitchell School uses the Positive Behavior Support in Schools (PBSIS) framework. We have behavior expectations in school and on the bus. These expectations fit into Safe, On-Task, Accepting, and Responsible (SOAR). We review the expectations each month and recognize students for perfect attendance for the month, All-Star students (students who have gotten 10 SOARing tickets) , Students of the Month, and students who have SOARed on the bus (chosen by the bus driver) with brag tags.

We are excited for a positive school year and are looking forward to partnering with you to ensure your child’s success! If you ever have any questions or concerns or just want to share something positive, please contact me by email at chrissycummings@lehsd.org or by phone at 609-296-7131 x 3911.
