Dear George J. Mitchell School Families,

January was a busy month in the George J. Mitchell School. Around   delayed openings and a snow day, students were assessed to see how   much they have learned this year using aimsweb in Reading and  iReady in Math. The teachers and administrators will be analyzing the   data from those assessments in the upcoming weeks to plan   instruction for the rest of the school year. I can’t wait to see how much   our students have grown already!

We celebrated the life and mission of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in many   different ways! Many classes were involved in activities centered   around peace. Classes also explored Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and  discovered how he tried to make the world a better place. Finally, many   classes focused on how we are all alike even though we are all different.

In New Jersey, January is designated as NJ Muslim Heritage Month. Classes learned about the Muslim Heritage through books.

Students were excited to welcome Mr. Joe Holiday and his Reading Rocks Magic Show to our school! Joe Holiday introduced students to books and performed book themed magic tricks that amazed us all! I would like to thank the Little Egg Harbor PTO for their generosity in providing this assembly for our students!
